Michael is doing very well breathing on his own. He also tolerating and digesting his feedings so well that he is now up to 6 cc's (half a teaspoon) per feeding every 3 hours. Mommy is getting lots of "hands-on" time now and Michael is so content.
Today is the first day that mommy and daddy felt like they had to worry..Michael is fine but they had to give him a PICC line in his hand so that they can continue to give him nutrition and any medicines needed through the line. The line in his belly button only stays up to 10 days so they will remove that permanently so it doesn't get infected. The PICC line will be his new "IV" and can last up to 30 days. This is a very common procedure for preemies. He probably won't have it that long as soon as he is digesting all his feedings. Tonight mommy changed his first poopy diaper!!! A reason to be happy as he did this all on his own and it was a lot, which shows he's digesting all his food.
